Spain Trip Day 3 - Cordoba
We arrived Cordoba at about 6.40 am. It was freezing cold..and now it did feel like UK's weather! Our journey started with a visit to La Mezquita, an old mosque which was turned into a church. Luckily we arrived a bit early, as the church is open for free from 8.30 - 10 am on Sunday. Or not there goes 6Euro . La Mezquita was built in the 10th Century when Cordoba was under a new emir, Abd ar-Rahman. However when the Christians came to Spain, they conquered the mosque and turn it to a church. However the moorish architecture is still maintained.

Spain Trip Day 2 - Barcelona
the day started off with walking to Park Guell. It was about 15 minutes walk from our hostel..but mind you, barcelona is a hilly place..oucchh pity my leg . Upon reaching the unsuccessful residential garden city, we were welcomed by a human statue dressed in gold cowboy suit. 'It' will only move if you throw some money inside his hat or if u wish to take a picture of 'it'. the park was planned by Spain's famous architect, Antonio Gaudi. the park was planned for his best friend, Eusebi Guell. Two things that caught my attention at this park are the ceramics and terraced area that will give you a wonderful view of Barcelona city. We spent about 2 hours at the park and headed to Sagrada Familia.
Sagrada Familia is another unfinished project by Gaudi. And believe it or not, it is still under construction till now. The construction stopped when Gaudi died after being hit by a street car in 1926. It is a monumental church constructed with nature as the basic foundation of the design. I must say i was intrigued by the interior of this church. During our visit at the church, there were a group of old people dancing..i guess it is the traditional dance in Spain. me and nana did try to follow though . well let just say we are 'good' for beginners.
Our next stop was Barcelona FC Stadium. Nana wanted to buy jersey. But sadly, by the time we reached there, the stadium was closed. Only took some pictures from outside the gate . Then we headed to Mont Juic station. Well not actually visited Mont Juic..but we just hang around some of the buildings there. It does look like buildings in Putrajaya, seriously! Having bought tickets to Cordoba that night, we headed to the train station to take some rest before our journey.
however we had about 3 hours before the train depart. While the others seems tired to merayau, me and nana decided to visit Casa Battlo, another Gaudi's masterpiece. I've seen pictures of it at nite and i said to nana that i want a picture of it too and of course with me in it. so the search begun of the location of Casa Battlo. We were lost at first..hehhe thanks to the difference of language . Luckily we found a nice young lady who speaks English.. . and after a few other directions given, we arrived at Casa Battlo..Wow! all i can say. we took few pictures from the outside. sadly we didnt have enough time to enter it. The time strucked at 8 pm..we looked at each other and said "hmm a shot of Starbucks wont hurt" hehhe two coffee addicts in the city of Barcelona, rushing their way to the nearest Starbucks. yeah we ran like mad..well not exactly like mad people..but mad laa. crossing the big road of Barcelona just for shots of Starbucks. talking about the power of coffee . When we placed our order "Frappucino Mocha and Frappucino Caramel", the counter lady told us "It's cold drink" with disbelief look in her face. hahah she must think us as mad people because it was cold outside..hey we experienced worst in UK..so the weather here is nothing..hehhe not that we said it out loud to her,,but something me n nana mutually understand . After gettting our drink..another race to the train station..hahha back to the mad people mode . Alhamdulillah we managed to get to the train station on time...n boarded to Cordoba. Luckily we got bed..wwuuhuu can sleep all night.

Spain Trip Day 1 : Sheff-Leeds-Barcelona
Our journey started off with breakfast at Jet's house. He made us his special 'Nasi Goreng Hailam'. impressive...but i looked at it more like 'Nasi Goreng Kicap' . Since its New Year, there were no bus services, all of us had to walk to the Sheffield interchange. phheeww first challenge for me as a backpacker . I weighed my backpack the nite before and the scale showed a figure of 9kg. The journey from Sheffield to Leeds took about 55 minutes. As we arrived at Leeds, took 2 cabs to the airport. Waited for about an hour before departed to Barcelona at 1.30 pm. On the schedule, we are expected to arrive at 5 pm. i was wondering how come the journey to Barcelona is longer than coming back to Leeds. not untill i arrive, i realized there is a time difference of an hour .
The new challenge begun..hehhe had to hold to the Spanish Phrase Book all the time . We took a bus to the city. The weather was not as cold as UK's. but the people are wearing thick jacket with scarf and gloves..bukan nak riak but we only wear simple jackets. we checked the weather to be like 15-19 degrees, so no need for long or wool coat. just a simple one would do . maybe dah biasa with UK's weather . anyway we planned to get the tickets to Cordoba for the next day, but we cant find anyone that can speak English to ask for directions to the train station! they only know spanish . at the end we decided to search for our hostel and rest.
